#23 Rewordify
This user-friendly website allows you to adjust the reading level of a text. All you need to do is copy the web page URL of the text you want to adjust and paste it into the yellow box at the top of the site, then click “Rewordify text.” Rewordify will simplify the text to the reading level you selected in the settings. If you don’t want the whole page to be Rewordified, you can copy, paste, and Rewordify text excerpts as well. You also can change how the text is displayed. My favorite part of the tool is to have simpler words displayed next to the challenging words that were in the original text. Finally, if you click on the “Print/Learning Activities” page, Rewordify will create vocabulary lists with definitions from the text, generate vocabulary quizzes for the text, and create close activities for the text. With this website, you can make more challenging texts accessible to all students.

Foster previous experiences, share a booktalk, discuss current projects and events, delve deep into STEAM ideas, or collaborate on anything. If you believe it’s valuable for students to verbalize their learning ... that’s a Flipgrid Topic!
Think of it as the best parts of Instagram and Snapchat, but your control! Students can flip the camera and pause while recording with unlimited retakes. Students can draw or use custom stickers to design a fun, creative selfie for the Grid. Finally, students can add a title and linked file to videos to verbalize their project-based learning. Your Grid transforms into a shared, community portfolio! Privately share student videos with their #1 fans through a simple link. Family members can view their student’s response, see your topic prompt, and download the video for future memories. Better yet, invite family members to participate in your Grids. |

#27 Quizlet
*Be sure to check out Quizlet Live!!
|
Quizlet is a mobile and web-based study application that allows students to study information via learning tools and games.
1. Flash Cards This mode is similar to paper flash cards. Users are shown a "card" for each term, which they can flip over by clicking or using the arrow keys or space bar. The user has the option for the face of the card to be an image, a word, or both. 2. Gravity In this study mode, definitions scroll vertically down the screen in the shape of asteroids. The user must type the term that goes with the definition before it reaches the bottom of the screen. It is one of the 'Play' study modes. The user can pick the level of difficulty and game type. 3. Write In this study mode, users are shown a term or definition and must type the term or definition that goes with what is shown. After entering their answer, users see if their answer was correct or not. 4. Long-Term Learning In this study mode, users are given a recommended study set based on whether or not they answer study set questions correctly. Repetition of terms answered incorrectly increases in frequency and a dashboard shows learning progress over time. The mode uses spaced repetition concepts to focus on longer-term retention and subject mastery versus shorter-term memorization. 5. Speller In this mode, the term is read out loud and users must type in the term with the correct spelling. If the user gets every answer correct, they are rewarded with a video of a monster truck doing a jump, wheelie, and a flip. 6. Match In this study mode, users are presented with a grid of scattered terms. Users drag terms on top of their associated definitions to remove them from the grid and try to clear the grid in the fastest time possible. Micro-match is a related matching game geared towards mobile devices and devices with small screens. Users may access the Micromatch mode on non-mobile devices by manually editing the URL in Match mode to use "micromatch" instead of "match". |

#30 Mentimeter
Mentimeter is an interactive presentation tool that allows users to engage their audiences in real time. It is often thought of as a POLLING tool, and it is a good one, but is so much more. After choosing Presenter or Audience pacing to get started, teachers simply click a button to begin designing a presentation. Users can choose from a variety of events, selecting from options such as questions, polls, word clouds, reactions, and more. Audiences join from the app or via menti.com and enter a six-digit join code in order to see and respond to the questions.
Mentimeter helps to solve the problem of always calling on the same students by getting feedback from the entire class. Start your day with a class poll to gauge mood, warm up, or ask an essential question. Use an Action Priority Matrix to determine which skills to teach first (involving students in instructional planning) and perform quick assessments using the quiz feature to anonymously check for concept mastery. Host a March Madness-style tournament, letting students vote weekly on their favorite books, scientists, characters, or historical figures. Crowdsource a word cloud to brainstorm character traits of famous leaders throughout history, innovative inventions, or solutions to real-world problems. Group discussions with questions related to themes or scientific discoveries are easily implemented. Teaching a foreign language or ELL class? Ask questions in different languages to practice authentic classroom conversations. Or empower students to create interactive presentations and teach small groups or the whole class a skill or concept. Collect usable data in seconds while giving students a voice. Knowing their opinions will be asked or that questions will require their input along the way will encourage them to be more engaged in the lesson. Mentimeter is also a great tool for professional development, allowing presenters to engage participants while providing high-quality content. |
